Taylor and Koetter propel Hawks on the mound against Kirkwood
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) and Lane Koetter (Grand Junction, Colo.) came up big for the Northeast Community College baseball team when it mattered the most.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) and Lane Koetter (Grand Junction, Colo.) came up big for the Northeast Community College baseball team when it mattered the most.
Taylor fanned 12 batters in six and one-thirds inning, allowing two earned runs off five hits in a 4-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader against Kirkwood Community College on Sunday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Koetter tossed a complete-game four-hitter as the Hawks (25-13, 14-8 ICCAC) cruised over Kirkwood in the final game of the doubleheader, 8-0. The lefty allowed no earned runs and just four hits, while striking out five batters.
Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and an RBI in Game One, while Bryce Walker (Papillion, Neb.) had two hits, including a double.
Cale Hlavac (Omaha, Neb.) went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the finale, while Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) had two doubles. Derek Botaletto (Omaha, Neb.) and Jayden Sinju (Murray, Utah) both had doubles in the win.
The Hawks battle Kirkwood at 1 and 3:30 p.m. tomorrow in Cedar Rapids.
