Hawks sweep Ellsworth backed by strong offensive performances
IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team had no issues scoring runs on multiple occasions on Sunday afternoon, defeating Ellsworth Community College 13-5 and 14-8 in ICCAC play in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team had no issues scoring runs on multiple occasions on Sunday afternoon, defeating Ellsworth Community College 13-5 and 14-8 in ICCAC play in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
The Hawks (15-11, 6-6 ICCAC) took a 6-2 lead in the first game and never looked back, while adding seven more runs in the final two innings.
Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) paced the Hawks, going 3-for-4 at the plate, with four runs, two RBI and a home run. Jayden Sinju (Murray, Utah) continued his dominant hitting approach at the plate, hitting another homer, while collecting three RBI and two runs.
Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) was 3-for-3, with three runs and two RBI, while Bryce Walker (Papillion, Neb.) added three hits and two RBI.
Lefty Andrew Shaw (Dillon, Colo.) picked-up his third win of the season, tossing five innings, allowing no earned runs off seven hits, while striking out six batters and walking two.
In the final game of the series, Ellsworth tacked on five runs in the bottom of the second, but the Hawks answered with three runs in the fifth and seven total runs in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the victory.
Sinju went 4-for-5, with three RBI, a home run, a run and a walk. Smith added three doubles and five RBI, while Dumont and Tanner Hunt (Elkhorn, Neb.) each had a double. Hunt also recorded two stolen bases.
Sebastian Rodriguez (Cayey, Puerto Rico) added his third win on the mound, tossing four and one-third innings all in relief, while surrendering just one hit and no earned runs.
Northeast is scheduled to host Midland University JV at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Veteran's Memorial Field in Norfolk.
