Hawks split on final day in Kansas
CHANUTE, Kan. – The Northeast Community College baseball team battled Cloud County Community College and Neosho Community College for the second-straight day in Chanute, Kan.

CHANUTE, Kan. – The Northeast Community College baseball team battled Cloud County Community College and Neosho Community College for the second-straight day in Chanute, Kan.
The Hawks (3-5) fell to Cloud 11-2, before picking up a 12-2 victory over Neosho in five innings.
Cloud quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Northeast could answer with two runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth. But, seven runs in the final two innings kept the Hawks off the scoreboard for the rest of the game.
Jayden Sinju (Murray, Utah) went 2-for-3 with a run. Freshman Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) took the loss, throwing five innings, allowing four earned runs, while striking out five and walking four.
The final game of the trip was a different story for the Hawks. Northeast exploded for three runs in the third and eight more in the fifth.
Donovan Warren (Omaha, Neb.) paced Northeast, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, a stolen base and a walk. Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) also went 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and a walk. Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) added two hits and Jackson Tingwald (Ralston, Neb.) chipped in a double and a stolen base.
Dylan Nicholson (Papillion, Neb.) earned the win, tossing four innings on four hits, two earned runs, while walking two and striking out two batters.
The Hawks are scheduled to play Southwestern Community College at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. in a doubleheader on Friday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
