HEIMES TIES SCHOOL RECORD FOR KILLS IN A GAME AS NORTHEAST VOLLEYBALL COMES UP JUST SHORT
BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was on the road Saturday in Boone, Iowa for a Region XI-B Semifinal match against Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks rallied but it wasn’t quite enough as the Bears took the contest by a final score of 3-2 in five sets.

The Hawks (19-16, 4-5 ICCAC) battled the Bears just a little over two weeks ago in their only regular season meeting and lost by a final score of 3-1. Saturday's showdown was a much closer affair, despite Northeast dropping both of the first two sets. The Hawks would win sets three and four 25-21 and 25-23, but ultimately dropped set five 15-12.
Karley Heimes (Wynot, Neb.) tied the school record for most kills in a game that was previously set by Brittany Sullivan way back in 2014 with 32.

Head volleyball coach Amanda Schultze on the comeback that her team put together:
"I was really proud of them for not giving up come that third set," Schultze said. "They worked hard and kept fighting."
Schultze on how she will remember this team:
"This is a group of girls that made huge strides throughout the season and I'm very proud of them for what they accomplished this year as a group of all freshmen."
