Hawks roll past Spartans in ICCAC play
CRESTON, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team picked up its second win of the week, topping Southwestern Community College in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21 in Creston, Iowa.
CRESTON, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team picked up its second win of the week, topping Southwestern Community College in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21 in Creston, Iowa.
The Hawks (5-13, 4-12 ICCAC) were led by a powerful hitting attack as they tallied 27 kills in the first two sets and only eight errors. They went on to record 15 more kills in the final set to keep the Spartans at bay.
Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) led the Hawks with 12 kills and 11 digs. Carly Hirsch (Norfolk, Neb.) added 11 kills, while Jamie Bonifas (Blue Hill, Neb.) had 32 assists. Payton Weber (Alliance, Neb.) chipped in 10 kills as the Hawks hit .264 as a team.
The Hawks welcome Southeastern Community College for a 1 p.m. ICCAC battle tomorrow at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
