Strong effort by Lopez not enough for Northeast men’s basketball
FORT DODGE, Iowa – Jared Lopez (Lincoln, Neb.) had an offensive explosion in only his second game back since November 16 due to injury, but it was not enough as the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team dropped an ICCAC contest Wednesday night, 75-64 against Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

The Hawks (4-10, 0-4 ICCAC) were led in scoring by Lopez's 23 points and six rebounds. Evan Decker (Omaha, Neb.) added 13 points and seven rebounds. Saheed Sanusi (Nassau, Bahamas) pitched in another 10 points, and Jaden Strachan (Nassau, Bahamas) contributed eight points off the bench.
The matchup was heavily contested throughout, and the Hawks took a 36-33 lead into the halftime break. However, the Tritons caught fire and were able to pull away by as much as 22 points to keep the Hawks at bay.
The Hawks return home for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff on Saturday at the Cox Activities Center to face Ellsworth Community College in Norfolk.
