SHAKESPEARE AND WORTMAN GUIDE NORTHEAST TO 26-0 VICTORY
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hosted Lake Region State College – ND Sunday at Norfolk Veteran’s Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk. The Hawks topped the Royals by a final score of 26-0.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hosted Lake Region State College – ND Sunday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk. The Hawks topped the Royals by a final score of 26-0.
Northeast (14-5) jumped all over Lake Region early with 10 runs in the first inning and kept pouring it on throughout the contest. Rusty Wortman (Gretna, Neb.) launched his second homer of the week in the showdown while Tom Shakespeare (Canberra, Australia) sent two different balls out of the park in the matchup. The Hawks totaled 10 strikeouts on the mound between six different pitchers and will now wrap up the series with the Royals tomorrow.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head baseball coach Marcus Clapp on what clicked today:
"I thought we did a good job with our approach early," Clapp said. "We only have a few more games until conference starts. Today and tomorrow is more about taking care of us and making sure we are prepared for conference."
Clapp on the performance from his pitchers today:
"We threw seven guys today and I thought we threw the ball pretty well," Clapp said. "We'll just come back out tomorrow and get back to work."
