ALVA, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team was again in Alva, Oklahoma Tuesday for their second battle in as many days with Northwestern Oklahoma St. University JV. The Hawks took the contest by a final score of 9-1.
The Hawks (11-5) were led on the mound by another dominant performance from Gage Ingram (LaVista, Neb.), as the Northeast starter went four innings and allowed only one hit in the form of a single during his outing. Ingram has only given up two earned runs in 22 innings of work so far this season.
Scoring was slow on both sides of the duel until Northeast broke the game open in the top of the fourth inning. Jackson Horn (Papillion, Neb.) walked to push across a run, Grayson Headrick (Littleton, Colo.) singled to bring in another, Taylor Gill (Orem, Utah) singled on a fly ball that scored two more and then Harrison Taubert (Casper, Wyo.) hit a hard ground ball that allowed two others to score on an error.
The six-run advantage that the Hawks gained in the fourth inning was plenty of comfort for Northeast the rest of the way as they capped off a perfect road trip in which they won three different games.
STAT SHEET:
Taylor Gill (Orem, Utah): 2-5, 3 RBI, R, BB
Cade Grevengoed (West Des Moines, Iowa): 1-3, 2 R, RBI, BB
Gage Ingram (LaVista, Neb.) 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 5 K
