CANCINO, HEADRICK COME UP BIG FOR HAWKS MONDAY
ALVA, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team headed to Alva, Oklahoma Monday to play Southern Nazarene University JV in one contest and Northwestern Oklahoma St. University JV in another. The Hawks were big victors by a final score 4-0 in Game 1 and 14-4 in Game 2.

ALVA, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team headed to Alva, Oklahoma Monday to play Southern Nazarene University JV in one contest and Northwestern Oklahoma St. University JV in another. The Hawks were big victors by a final score of 4-0 in Game 1 and 14-4 in Game 2.
The Hawks (10-5) got five innings of work out of starter Nick Vilims (Evergreen, Colo.) in Game 1 as the righty recorded eight strikeouts without allowing a single run. Freshman Caleb Cancino (Castle Rock, Colo.) was placed into the lineup after having only one previous at-bat on the season, and he delivered in a big way in the form of a two-for-three day with a double and two RBIs.
In the showdown with Northwestern Oklahoma St. University JV in Game 2, Northeast was able to shut the door on the Rangers in just five innings. Grayson Headrick (Littleton, Colo.) tallied a triple and five RBIs to help boost the Hawks to a big advantage on the scoreboard. Eli Crnkovich (Valley, Neb.) came in and shut the door on the Rangers, striking out all three batters that he faced in the bottom of fifth inning to seal the deal.

Head baseball coach Marcus Clapp on the big days at the plate for freshmen Caleb Cancino and Grayson Headrick:
"Cancino had an opportunity today and he made the most of it!" Clapp said. "We ask all our guys to be prepared. Grayson did some good things for us today as well."
Clapp on the key to completing a sweep of the road trip tomorrow:
"We need to keep getting better every time out and look to be competitive every pitch and every at-bat!" Clapp said.
