POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The No. 6 Northeast Community College women's soccer team was again on the road Saturday in Poplarville, Mississippi in a ranked matchup with No. 13 Pearl River Community College. The Hawks and Wildcats fought to a 1-1 draw in the contest.
Northeast (1-1-1) gave up a goal in the 36th minute to Pearl River and trailed for much of the battle in what was a ballgame that featured strong defense on both sides. The Hawks looked to be in trouble late until Samantha Bayer (Queensland, Australia) collected the ball after initially being blocked by the Wildcats goalkeeper on a shot and found the back of the net to pull Northeast even on the scoreboard. The two squads held each other scoreless for the final 10 minutes as the Hawks earned just their third draw in the last three seasons.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Women's Soccer Coach Chad Miller on the draw tonight:
"This is three games in a row where we get our goals in the second half," Miller said. "It is two different teams. I love our ability to come back, but we make it very hard on ourselves by playing from behind every game, especially against the best in the nation."
Miller on battling the No. 1 team in the country next:
"We have nothing to lose," Miller said. "Northwest Mississippi is the No. 1 team in the nation. No one expects us to win. So, let's go find our 90-minute game and see what happens."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will complete their trip to Mississippi with a showdown against No. 1 Northwest Mississippi Community College at 10 a.m. Monday in Senatobia, Mississippi.
