Hawks cruise past Blue Knights on Wednesday afternoon
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College women’s soccer team cruised to an easy win on Wednesday, topping Dakota County Technical College, 6-0 at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

The Hawks (6-5, 1-1 ICCAC) made quick work in the first half, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead. Sara Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) put the Hawks on the scoreboard first in the first minute, followed by a goal from Pyper Lochead (Gold Coast, Queensland) in the fourth minute. Kailey Lincoln (Gold Coast, Queensland) found the back of the net in the 27th-minute.
Pedroza kicked off the scoring for the Hawks in the 53rd-minute, while Brianna Mendias () nailed a goal in the 66th-minute. Kelsey Tabbert (Elkhorn, Neb.) capped off the Hawks' scoring, hitting a shot from Lincoln in the 73rd-minute.
"This was a good win for us to get us refocused," head coach Chad Miller said. "Whenever you have a tough loss, you want to see how the team reacts in the next match. This was good to see we are still confident in our play. We moved the ball well and got it forward in the attack."
The Hawks outshot the Blue Knights, 38-0.
Northeast visits Southeastern Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday in West Burlington, Iowa.
