COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team held the No. 13-ranked Iowa Western Community College Reivers scoreless in the first half of an ICCAC match on Tuesday in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In the second half, both teams traded shots, but it was the home team that came out on top to down the Hawks (8-2, 1-1 ICCAC), 3-0 at the Reiver Sports Complex.
"I was happy with our play in the first half," head coach Chad Miller said. "I felt we moved the ball and took some chances. In the second half, Iowa Western played more composed and under control then we did. They have a strong attack and we couldn't hold them out."
The Reivers out-shot the Hawks, 11-5. Goalie Mackenzie Byrnes (Brighton, Colo.) had five saves in the net.
Northeast steps out of conference play to take on Concordia University JV at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Seward, Neb.
