MARKER HOMERS FOR HAWKS IN DOUBLEHEADER WITH NO. 7 BEARS
BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team headed to Boone, Iowa Friday for a doubleheader with No. 7 Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks fell in both contests by final scores of 13-4 and 0-14.

BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team headed to Boone, Iowa Friday for a doubleheader with No. 7 Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks fell in both contests by final scores of 13-4 and 14-0.
Northeast (14-19, 2-6 ICCAC) had the offense rolling in Game 1 as a two-run homer from Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.) gave the Hawks an early lead. Marker also added a double in the matchup while Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) and Emilee Sirdoreus (Laramie, Wyo.) added doubles of their own. Isabel Raburn (Holdredge, Neb.) also tallied five strikeouts in the circle for Northeast.
The Hawks were held hitless in Game 2 and will now look ahead to a doubleheader against Ellsworth Community College on Sunday, a team they swept last Friday.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the day and the performance from Lauren Marker:
"I think the first 5.5 innings of softball we really competed and showed that we belong out there with some of the best teams in the nation," Sharpe said. "Lauren had a really good day at the plate, and I think overall the team had a we over me mindset and I loved to see it."
Sharpe on battling Ellsworth next:
"Sunday will be a fun day," Sharpe said. "If we can compete like we did today, good things will come."

The Hawks will travel to Ellsworth Community College for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. Sunday in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
