HAWKS POWERED BY AHLEMEYER HOMER IN FINAL DAY OF ROAD TRIP
LAMAR, Colo. – The Northeast Community College softball team finished their trip to Lamar, Colorado Saturday with matchups against Lamar Community College and Southeast Community College. The Hawks took down Lamar by a final score of 6-4 in Game 1 of the day before falling to Southeast by a final score of 4-3.

Northeast (2-2) jumped on the board first against Lamar but fell behind in the middle innings before Grace Sievers (Gibbon, Neb.) drew a walk to bring in one run and Lauren Marker (Kearney, Neb.) drove in two more with a fly ball to right in the fifth inning. The Hawks added an insurance run in the sixth inning and closed out the contest in the seventh to take their second victory of the young season.
In Game 2, Northeast and the Bobcats traded the lead three times throughout the day as the pitching staffs for both teams were strong. Malika Monroe (Valentine, Neb.), Jadyn Lauritsen (Dannebrog, Neb.) and Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) all recorded RBIs in the matchup and Ahlemeyer blasted the first home run of her collegiate career.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the doubleheader Saturday:
"I thought we competed the whole day and that's all I can ask for," Sharpe said. "Defensively, I thought we did a great job."
Sharpe on how she wants her team to spend the next week before playing again:
"I think we need to do a better job of making in-game adjustments and that's what we're going to focus on with the time off," Sharpe said.

The Hawks will return to play next at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 19 in Beatrice, Nebraska against Southeast Community College.
