Hawks drop doubleheader to Iowa Western
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team hit the road on Saturday and dropped two games to Iowa Western Community College, 8-0 and 9-1 at the Reiver Sports Complex in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College softball team hit the road on Saturday and dropped two games to Iowa Western Community College, 8-0 and 9-1 at the Reiver Sports Complex in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Hawks (2-8) were held to just one hit in the contest. JennVanDeWalle (Aurora, Neb.) went 1-for-2. Kierra Stewart (Dodge, Neb.) was dealt the loss after tossing four and one-third innings, allowing seven earned runs off seven hits, while walking six batters and striking out three.
The Reivers made quick work in the final game of the doubleheader, holding the Hawks to just three hits.
Maggie Berryman (Norfolk, Neb.), Chantel Julian (Roseville, Calif.) and Vada Kruse (Norfolk, Neb.) each had a hit in the loss. Sydney Schmitz (Nebraska City, Neb.) was tagged with the loss after throwing five innings, allowing five earned runs off six hits, while striking out two and walking two.
The Hawks square off with Peru State College JV in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. on March 15 in Peru, Neb.
