Berryman named conference and national player of the week

NORFOLK, Neb. – Maggie Berryman (Norfolk, Neb.) was ready to hit last week when she stepped to the plate for the Northeast Community College softball team.
In her first eight plate appearances, Berryman collected six hits in a doubleheader against Central Community College. For her efforts, she was named the ICCAC DII Softball Player of the Week and the NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Week it was announced on Wednesday.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Berryman went 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple, while collecting a walk, a run and two RBI. In the final game on Saturday, the sophomore went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run. She also added seven RBI, while scoring twice in a 13-8 win for the Hawks.
Berryman and the Hawks are back on the diamond Saturday when they face Western Nebraska Community College at 3 p.m. and North Platte Community College at 5 p.m. in North Platte, Neb.
