NO. 3 NORTHEAST DOWNS DEFENDING CHAMPION NO. 4 PRAIRIE STATE
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. – The No. 3 Northeast Community College men’s soccer team took on defending champion No. 4 Prairie State College Saturday in a marquee matchup in Chicago Heights, Illinois. The Hawks got the better of the top-five matchup by a final score of 3-0 to secure one of the biggest regular-season victories in the history of the men’s soccer program.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. – The No. 3 Northeast Community College men's soccer team took on defending champion No. 4 Prairie State College Saturday in a marquee matchup in Chicago Heights, Illinois. The Hawks got the better of the top-five matchup by a final score of 3-0 to secure one of the biggest regular-season victories in the history of the men's soccer program.
Northeast (5-0) didn't score until the 61st-minute of the ballgame but put their second goal of the showdown into the back net just two minutes later to go up 2-0. Defensemen Sergio Aznar (Zaragoza, Spain) scored his second goal of the day and his fourth of the season in the 85th-minute to all but seal the game. Goalkeeper Mathias Kristoffersen (Skovby, Denmark) and the defense didn't allow a single goal against the top-five opponent, and they have worked together in unison to not allow a goal in the last four matches.

"Absolutely love the fight and grit of this group!" Potter said. "It's not easy to stay dialed in on the road in a hostile environment when everything isn't going your way, but we did a fabulous job of holding each other accountable and setting a standard! I'm so proud of these guys! They stay connected even when the going gets rough! That's a family!"
Potter on the quick turnaround to another contest Monday:
"We are just so excited to be back at home on Monday in front of our family and friends to play some carnival games!" Potter said.

The carnival games that Potter referred to above is an ode to State Fair Community College, who the Hawks will battle with at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
