NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team took care of Scott Community College, 3-1 on Sunday in the first round of the Region XI Tournament at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
The Hawks (7-14, 5-5 ICCAC) received two goals early, one from Paul Einero (Cape Town, South Africa) and another from Mano Veldt (Bussum, Netherlands) in the first half. Conner Bickford (Arvada, Colo.) put the game out of reach after finding the back of the net off an assist from Einero, in the second half.
Northeast outshot Scott, 28-1.
"I felt we did a much better job at playing our game today than we have in the past couple of games," head coach Chad Miller said. "Our possession was much better, and we were more efficient at moving the ball. It was a good game for all of our lines and a good game to have leading into the semifinal match."
The Hawks battle Hawkeye Community College with a time yet to be determined on Wednesday in Waterloo, Iowa.
