Ty Heimes was named part-time head coach in January 2023.

Throughout the 2023-24 year, Northeast competed in the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff at Saddlebrook Golf Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida and finished fifth at the North Central District Tournament. Gage Burns was named Second Team All-Region while Gunther Soltvedt and Tyler Baumchen were named Honorable Mention All-Region. Martin Hempston was named Second Team NJCAA All-Academic while Emmett Woodland was named Third Team NJCAA All-Academic. There were 15 different combined appearances on the fall and spring Academic All-Region teams by student-athletes from the men’s golf program.

Rupert Hurford and Emmett Woodland Santiago Valdes signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at NAIA Ottawa University.

During the 2022-23 season, Heimes guided Santiago Valdes to a victory in the North Central District Tournament after three playoff holes. The victory qualified Valdes for the 2023 NJCAA DII Men’s Golf Championship in Plymouth, Indiana. Valdes also was named Region 11 Player of the Year, which marked the first time the feat had been accomplished in the history of the program. Heimes coached Valdes to a T41 finish at the national tournament to cap his record-breaking career. During the fall season, the Hawks finished second at the Raider Classic in Columbus, Nebraska.

Santiago Valdes signed to continue his academic and athletic career at NAIA Park University.

Heimes served as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2022 and helped guide the golf team to a successful fall season that saw Northeast rise to as high as No. 12 in the nation.

Heimes played golf at Northeast from 2019-2022 where he took home a victory in Moravia, Iowa crowning him as the North Central District Champion. Heimes also helped lead the golf team to a top-10 ranking and an appearance at the 2022 NJCAA DII Men’s Golf Championship in Joplin, Mo.

As a native of Battle Creek, Nebraska, Heimes was a four-year starter and four-time letterwinner in golf. He was a state medalist and led his team to a state runner-up finish. Heimes was also a three-time state medalist in wrestling and a three-time letterwinner in football.
