HAWKS SHOW SIGNS OF GROWTH DURING TEXAS TRIP
KERRVILLE, Texas – The Northeast Community College men’s golf team made the 17-hour trek to Kerrville, Texas this week two compete in the two-day Schreiner Shootout at Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas. The Hawks finished the tournament in seventh place as a team.
KERRVILLE, Texas – The Northeast Community College men's golf team made the 14-hour trek to Kerrville, Texas this week two compete in the two-day Schreiner Shootout at Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas. The Hawks finished the tournament in seventh place as a team.
Northeast was paced on the leaderboard by Santiago Valdes (Mexico City, Mexico), who's even round of 72 during Round 2 was the lowest score of the tournament for the Hawks. Rockney Peck (Wisner, Neb.) wasn't too far behind Valdes as his score of 73 Monday slotted him in ninth place after one day.
The Hawks faced a difficult field during the two days as the competition included both two and four-year schools. Northeast was able to get in two practice rounds during their trip and will head back home to get some more work in before a stretch of five tournaments in 35 days nears.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head men's golf coach Ty Heimes' overall thoughts on how the tournament played out:
"We struggled a bit the first day but bounced back and played better the second day," Heimes said. "This tournament had a great field, so it was nice for us to go and compete against tough competition."
Heimes on the positives his group can take away from this event heading into the next few tournaments:
"Just getting outside and playing," Heimes said. "We got four rounds in down here and we now know what we need to work on when we get back home."
UP NEXT:
Northeast will stay a little closer to Norfolk as they will compete in the All-Nebraska JUCO Challenge at Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook, Nebraska.
