OTTUMWA, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's basketball team played in Day 2 of the Hy-Vee classic on the campus of Indian Hills Community College in a battle with Lake Region State College – ND. Northeast grabbed the pivotal victory by a final score of 92-81.
The Hawks (5-6, 0-2 ICCAC) entered the contest on a three-game losing skid but were able to get back to what worked earlier in the season. The first half was up-and-down for both teams as the Royals held a slight 45-44 lead into the locker room.
The second half for Northeast was just what the doctor ordered as the Hawks pulled away halfway through the half and cruised to victory. One of the big differences in the game was the Hawks had 29 points off turnovers compared to just eight from Lake Region State.
