NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's basketball knew they were in for a challenge when conference-leading Des Moines Area Community College entered the Cox Activities Center Wednesday night, and that proved to be true as the Bears defeated the Hawks 78-54.
The Hawks (4-20, 0-13 ICCAC) were only down four after a trey from Saheed Sanusi (Nassau, Bahamas) with 12:14 remaining in the game, but that would turn out to be the closest they would get to the lead.
The free-throw line was the place to be for the Hawks as they were able to reach the charity stripe 21 different times.
STAT SHEET

• Collin Storr (Nassau, Bahamas): 10 PTS, 13 REB

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH
Head men's basketball coach Dan Anderson's overall thoughts on the contest:
"Well, we surely didn't shoot very well," Anderson said. "Even though the score was a 20-point split I thought that we still played hard. Still tried to get after it."
Anderson's positive takeaways from the matchup:
"We've improved in some areas. Collin (Storr) had 13 rebounds, which was a good thing. Collin played well. I thought Jaden (Strachan) played well. Evan (Decker) works hard on the boards. Jared (Lopez) is a good defender."
Anderson's early thoughts on facing Kirkwood Community College next:
"Between now and Saturday we kind of have to rest a little bit," Anderson said. "It's a long year."
