HAWKS TAKE TWO OVER SOUTHEASTERN AND CENTRAL ON SOPHOMORE DAY

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was back home at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk Saturday for a doubleheader with RV Southeastern Community College and No. 15 Central Community College. The Hawks were victorious in both contests by final scores of 3-1 and 3-0.

Northeast (20-13, 6-4 ICCAC) took on the ranked Blackhawks during their first battle of the day and their only blemish was a tight 28-26 second set. Alex Arenas (Wakefield, Neb.) led the way in kills for the Hawks with 17 as they were able to jump Southeastern in the current ICCAC standings.

In the second match of the day Northeast avenged their close 3-2 loss to Central back on September 8 as they were able to record their 12th sweep of the year. Kiara Krusemark (Wayne, Neb.) tallied 41 assists in the showdown, bringing her total for the day to 92, her season total to 1,075 and her career total to 2,279.

The Hawks honored sophomores Krusemark, Cadence Kramer (Stuart, Neb.), Chloe Sandell (Polk, Neb.) Sydney Redden (Wayne, Neb.), Lauren Buhrman (Wisner, Neb.), Lily Otten (Pilger, Neb.), Savannah Siebrandt (Stanton, Neb.), Kaitlyn Nelson (Ainsworth, Neb.) and student manager Lindy Coble (Mullen, Neb.) at the conclusion of the matchup as part of Sophomore Day celebrations.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what she liked from her team on Sophomore Day:

"I thought our girls showed up and played hard," Schultze said. "I really feel like our defense is picking it up. Just proud of how they showed up and played."

Schultze on battling No. 3 Iowa Central next:

"We just want to finish on a high," Schultze said. "We want to make sure we leave it all out there and play hard. We want to have fun doing what we love to do!"
