NORTHEAST SPLITS FOUR-GAME TOURNAMENT IN COLUMBUS

COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team traveled to Columbus, Nebraska for the final time during the regular season Friday and Saturday for a four-game set in the Central Community College Tournament. The Hawks downed Dakota College at Bottineau and Kansas City Kansas Community College by final scores of 3-0 and 3-1 but fell to Allen County Community College and Neosho County Community College by a final score of 3-0 in both defeats.

Northeast (17-12, 4-3 ICCAC) was all over Dakota College at Bottineau in the first contest of the two-day event as the Lumberjacks only managed five points in the first set, 12 points in the second set and nine points in the third and final set. Freshman Kaidence Wilson (North Loup, Neb.) led the way for the Hawks in kills during both of Friday's matches as she tallied 10 kills against Dakota College at Bottineau and eight kills in the showdown with Allen County.

Saturday again saw Northeast split the day as they started off hot in a tight duel with Kansas City Kansas to begin the morning. The Hawks dropped the first set 23-25 but were able to rally and win the next three, including a 26-24 triumph in the clinching fourth set. Wilson was again all over the floor for Northeast as she recorded 24 kills on the day to bring her weekend total to 42.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on who stood out during the four games:

"Kaidence Wilson did a nice job for us in the front row," Schultze said. "She mixed up her shots and led the team in kills all four games this weekend."

Schultze on the focus before taking on Ellsworth Thursday:

"We have to get everyone healthy for this next week," Schultze said.

The Hawks will hit the road for a conference clash with Ellsworth Community College at 7 p.m. Thursday in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
