NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 20 Northeast Community College volleyball team hosted Marshalltown Community College Tuesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks downed the visiting Tigers by a final score of 3-1 in three sets to move to 3-1 in conference play.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 20 Northeast Community College volleyball team hosted Marshalltown Community College Tuesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk. The Hawks downed the visiting Tigers by a final score of 3-1 in three sets to move to 3-1 in conference play.
The Hawks (14-6, 3-1 ICCAC) cruised to victories in set one and two before Marshalltown roared back to take set three. Freshman Avery Couch (David City, Neb.) with 12 kills and freshman Jayda Christensen (Norfolk, Neb.) with five blocks were both crucial to the Hawks rallying to triumph in the fourth set to come out on top in the matchup.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what she enjoyed about the night:
"It was great to see the subs come off the bench and play defense at the net," Schultze said. "We served pretty well tonight. We had 10 aces and only two missed serves."
Schultze on taking on No. 6 Kirkwood Thursday night:
"I'm excited to see that level of competition," Schultze said. "We have to really get prepared tomorrow for it and be mentally focused when we step foot on that court on Thursday night. We have to know what's going on, stay disciplined and play our game."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will have another conference battle in less than 48 hours as they will take on No. 6 Kirkwood Community College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
