HAWKS SHOW POSITIVE SIGNS DURING KANSAS ROAD TRIP

GARDEN CITY, Kan.  – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was back in Garden City, Kansas Saturday for Day 2 of the Scooter's Coffee Invitational. The Hawks dropped their first matchup of the day to Ranger College 3-0 before rallying back for a 3-0 victory over Trinidad State College later in the afternoon.

Northeast (3-1) fell in set two to Ranger by a slim margin of 25-23 and were unable to get any momentum going for the rest of the game as they dropped the contest. Set one of Game 2 against Trinidad State was extended but Northeast was able to pull out a 29-27 triumph. Set two was another close battle with Northeast coming out on top 25-23 before finishing off the sweep in set three.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze's takeaways from the three victories over the weekend:

"I liked seeing what we are capable of doing," Schultze said. "Now we need to work on consistency."

Schultze on what the focus will be on before her squads next outing Wednesday:

"We are excited to get back to work on Monday and play a team on Wednesday that we will see a couple of times this season," Schultze said.

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will head to Western Iowa Tech Community College for the first time in school history for a duel at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
