Northeast volleyball falters on the road against No. 20 NIACC

MASON CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team had a tough time trying to get past No. 20 North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday night in Mason City, Iowa.
The Hawks (14-12, 5-1 ICCAC) ultimately fell in three sets, 21-25, 18-25 and 21-25 in ICCAC play.
Hannah Heppner (Stanton, Neb.) led the Hawks with nine kills, while Jamie Bonifas (Blue Hill, Neb.) added 27 assists and 13 digs. Elley Beaver (Columbus, Neb.) had 18 digs and Josie Sanger (Crofton, Neb.) tallied 15, respectively.
The Hawks are now in a three-way tie for first place in the ICCAC standings with Iowa Central Community College and NIACC with a 5-1 record.
Northeast will hit the road to compete in the Reiver Festival Tournament on Friday, taking on Colby Community College at 5 p.m., followed by a match with Mineral Area Community College at 7 p.m.
