FORT DODGE, Iowa – With an undefeated conference record on the line, it was Iowa Central Community College coming out on top on Wednesday, topping the Northeast Community College women's volleyball team (23-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18) in four sets in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
"Tonight we got off to a great start and jumped out on top right away," head coach Amanda Schultze said. "The second set, Iowa Central served tough and we could not get in system, which led us to making quite a few errors right away. We found ourselves down 8-1 at one point and tried hard to get back into the game, but struggled the rest of the set. Iowa Central did a nice job at keeping us on our toes and mixing things up tonight."
Elley Beaver (Columbus, Neb.) led the offensive attack with 15 kills, while adding 21 digs. Kalli Brester (Howells, Neb.) pitched in 12 kills and 17 digs. Gabriela Barbosa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) had 28 digs and Savannah Nelson (Wakefield, Neb.) tallied 38 assists in the loss.
Northeast (11-7, 4-1 ICCAC) returns home for an ICCAC match against North Iowa Area Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
