NJCAA DI NO. 2 REIVERS TOP NO. 7 HAWKS ON THE ROAD

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The No. 7 Northeast Community College women's soccer team made the short trip to Council Bluffs, Iowa Saturday for a battle with reigning national champion and current NJCAA DI No. 2 Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks fell in the matchup by a final score of 8-0.

Northeast (8-4-2, 2-1-1 ICCAC) had four shots on goal during the contest and continued to push the offense forward throughout much of the night. Djoy Zwiesereijn (Wageningen, Netherlands) recorded a season-high nine saves, which bring the freshman's total to 28 on the year. The Hawks will now set their sights on jumping back into conference play as they will battle North Iowa Area Community College and Southeastern Community College this week.

"I was actually really happy with how we played tonight," Miller said. "We don't sit back and defend the whole game; we look to play forward. That's who we are. If we can put that team on the field the rest of the year, I will be very happy with that."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will compete with North Iowa Area Community College in an ICCAC matchup at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mason City, Iowa.
