SANDERS CLUTCH AS NO. 5 NORTHEAST WINS THRILLER OVER DI NO. 13 WESTERN WYOMING

NORFOLK, Neb.  – The No. 5 Northeast Community College women's soccer team played host to NJCAA DI No. 13 Western Wyoming Community College Friday morning at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk in what turned out to be an instant classic. The Hawks came out on top by a final score of 4-3 to grab yet another impressive victory.

Northeast (7-0) was in an absolute battle from the initial start of the matchup as the two sides went after each other the entire afternoon. Northeast pulled ahead, fell behind and eventually pulled back ahead behind three goals from Talia Sanders (Queensland, Australia) and another from Anna Schloeglmann (Sharding, Austria). The go-ahead goal for the Hawks came off the foot of Sanders with under ten minutes remaining in the contest as the Hawks snagged another ranked victory.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Women's Soccer Coach Chad Miller on the resiliency he saw from his group in the competitive battle:

"At halftime we talked about making sure we finished the game," Miller said. "We said that we needed to make them match our intensity and that we needed to control the game ourselves. I am so proud of them. I don't know how many times we were down, but we hadn't been in that position all year. For us to come back multiple times was awesome."

Miller on freshmen Talia Sanders and Anna Schloeglmann stepping up for his team today:

"With those two the great thing with them is there is so much potential that they haven't even tapped into yet," Miller said. "They came from other countries with different styles of play. They are trying to learn what we are trying to do here, and we are trying to take what they are used to. They are still just trying to crack out of their shell. They have it. Once we put the two styles together, they are going to be exciting to watch!"
