SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. – The No. 6 Northeast Community College women's soccer team returned to the pitch Friday for a battle with RV South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois. The Hawks captured a 2-0 victory to topple another opponent who had been receiving national attention.
Northeast (5-0) pulled off another road win in the contest as they have proven that they can handle matchups in all different types of environments so far this year. Freshmen Mia Dack (Kilkenny, Ireland) punched in the first goal of her career in the first half while the Hawks defense and goalkeeper Hannah Thornell (Auckland, New Zealand) pulled off their third shutout in just five games.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH
Head Women's Soccer Coach Chad Miller on what has impressed him about the effort from goalkeeper Hannah Thornell and his defense so far this season:
"Hannah is playing very relaxed in the goal," Miller said. "She is playing with confidence, and that's what you want from your GK. Our defense is athletic. They might bend a bit, but they don't seem to break. They play with so much heart."
Miller on what can be worked on with a busy stretch upcoming:
"As a team we make mistakes, and we know it, but they are not big mistakes so we can fix them," Miller said. "I feel what we need to do is work on cleaning those up and find that peak to our game."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will return home for a date with Metropolitan Community College at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
