O’BRIEN’S HAT TRICK LIFTS NO. 6 HAWKS ON SOPHOMORE DAY
NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 6 Northeast Community College women’s soccer team held their Sophomore Day Saturday as they took on Southeastern Community College. The Hawks sent their sophomores out in style as they captured a 9-0 victory.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 6 Northeast Community College women's soccer team held their Sophomore Day Saturday as they took on Southeastern Community College. The Hawks sent their sophomores out in style as they captured a 9-0 victory.
The Hawks (14-1-1, 7-0 ICCAC) retained their streak of not allowing a single goal in conference play Saturday and were lifted by Taryn O'Brien's (Lakewood, Colo.) three goals, which brings her season total to 20.
Sophomores Carolin Stahlmann (Hamburg, Germany), Mackenzee Stokes (Ninji, Austrailia), Julie Derenemesnil (Paris, France), Kailey Lincoln (Gold Coast, Australia), Kyler Bowman (Topeka, Kan.), Erica Derby (Keenesburg, Colo.), Romeni Gurmendi (Boulder, Colo.) and Taryn O'Brien were all honored after the game as part of the Sophomore Day celebrations.

Head women's soccer coach Chad Miller's takeaways from the game:
"I thought that everything worked today," Miller said. "Our forwards were aggressive, our midfield was controlling the middle really well and our defense just did their jobs. They won the balls and played it to the next line. I thought that everything worked really well today. I was really proud of them."
Miller on sending his sophomores out with a win:
"It means everything," Miller said. "These girls have earned it over the past two years. They have been nothing but incredibly hard workers and beasts on the field. They earned this win and I'm so proud that they got it the way they did."

The Hawks will face Hawkeye Community College for the second time this season at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Waterloo, Iowa.
