Pedroza, Thompson garner First Team All-Region accolades
NORFOLK, Neb. – Freshman Naomi Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) and sophomore Kahrena Thompson (Jamestown, Colo.) earned First Team All-Region honors after leading the Northeast Community College women’s soccer team to one of its best seasons in program history, it was announced by the ICCAC on Tuesday.
NORFOLK, Neb. – Freshman Naomi Pedroza (Hastings, Neb.) and sophomore Kahrena Thompson (Jamestown, Colo.) earned First Team All-Region honors after leading the Northeast Community College women's soccer team to one of its best seasons in program history, it was announced by the ICCAC on Tuesday.
Pedroza finished her first season with the Hawks, scoring 27 goals in 18 matches. She also tallied eight game-winning goals, while shattering three women's soccer records. Pedroza broke the record for most goals in a career (27), in a season (27) and game (4).
Thompson was second on the team with 10 goals on the year. She also pitched in 15 assists, which also broke the Northeast record for most assists in a career and season.
Kyla Ryan (Seymour, WIs.) and Mandy Stricker (Broomfield, Colo.) were named Second Team All-Region recipients. Ryan tallied nine goals for the Hawks this season and five assists, while starting in all 18 games. Stricker added six goals and five assists in 18 matches for Northeast.
Lorry Romain (San Fernando, Trinidad) earned Honorable Mention All-Region status after a breakout sophomore season. Romain started in 18 games and tallied four goals and an assist in her final season with the Hawks.
The Hawks finished with a program-best 13 wins in their fourth year of existence under head coach Chad Miller and a fourth-place finish in the conference.
