BETTENDORF, Iowa – Six minutes into the first overtime, Mary Perez found the net on an assist by Emily Goc to propel the Northeast Community College women's soccer team over Scott Community College 1-0 on Saturday in Bettendorf, Iowa.
The game-winning goal marked the second goal for Perez this season. Northeast (3-3, 3-0 ICCAC) out-shot Scott 25-3.
"Our possession was really good," Head Coach Chad Miller said. "We moved the ball really well and created some good opportunities. Scott did a great job of packing the back line and not letting us through. Their goalie also did a great job of running down the ball when she needed to. My only critique would be that we have to be better in scoring opportunities."
The 3-0 conference mark in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play is the best start in program history for the Hawks.
Alexis Wemhoff tallied a save in the net for the Hawks.
The Hawks battle Iowa Lakes Community College at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
