Maxon and Hadzihusejnovic carry Hawks over Concordia JV
NORFOLK, Neb. – Lorna Maxon (Laurel, Neb.) and Emina Hadzihusejnovic (Mostar, Bosnia) each recorded a double-double as the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team downed Concordia University JV, 88-54 on Monday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (26-3, 3-1 ICCAC) got off to a slow start in the first quarter, but managed to 20 or more points in the final three quarters to hold off the Bulldogs from mounting any comeback.
Maxon led the Hawks with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 10 rebounds. Hadzihusejnovic tallied 18 points and 12 boards, while holding the Bulldogs to 29 percent shooting from the field.
Julia Carbonell (Barcelona, Spain) added 12 points off the bench. Macey Kulhanek (Howells, Neb.) pitched in 11 points and five boards, while Beth Matas (Girona, Spain) had 10 points and nine assists.
The Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 83 percent from the charity stripe.
Northeast battles Marshalltown Community College in the Region XI Tournament at 5 p.m. on Feb. 26 in Norfolk.
