Stagnant third quarter dooms Hawks on Wednesday night
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team (20-3, 2-1 ICCAC) had its 12-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday night at the hands of Iowa Western Community College, 67-60 at the Reiver Arena in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The Hawks took a 34-31 lead into halftime, but came out of the break looking for answers on the offensive end. Northeast managed just 10 points, compared to 23 by the Reivers in the third quarter. The Hawks went on to out-score Iowa Western in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough.
Beth Matas (Girona, Spain) led the Hawks with 20 points and four assists. Kyla Moore (Norfolk, Neb.) added 17 points, while Emina Hadzihusejnovic (Mostar, Bosnia) pitched in 10 rebounds and six points.
The Hawks shot 48 percent from the field, 47 percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
Northeast welcomes Little Priest Tribal College for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
