Labette cruised to a fast start in the first and second quarters, holding the Hawks (6-5) to 16 points heading into halftime. At the start of the second half, Labette flexed its defensive muscles, allowing just nine points in the third quarter to the Hawks.
Labette went on to shoot 52 percent from the field and 100 percent from beyond the arc. The Hawks finished with 38 percent shooting from the field and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
For the Hawks, Lauren Hunstad (Parker, S.D.) recorded 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Irene Sanz (Vilassar de Mar, Spain) added eight points and five boards, while Macey Kulhanek (Howells, Neb.) tallied seven points off the bench in the loss.
Northeast battles New Mexico Junior College at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Council Bluffs.
