Northeast (13-31, 2-20 ICCAC) captured their first conference wins of the season at a perfect time as they will battle in the regular season finale tomorrow and will hope to carry some positive momentum into postseason play.
HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head softball coach Iris Woodhead on what stood out in the batter's box during the victories today:
"We did a better job at attacking our pitch at the plate," Woodhead said. "Amanda Gonzales (Denver, Colo.) had stellar day at the plate with a home run in the first game and a big two-run shot in the second game that tied it up for us and really got the momentum back on our side."
Woodhead on the execution in the circle:
"Emilee Spitz (Columbus, Neb.) pitched really well in Game 1 and Josie Knust (Plattsmouth, Neb.) came in early in Game 2 and stopped any momentum Ellsworth tried to get on their side," Woodhead said. "We saw some great plays defensively behind both pitchers."
Woodhead on how to repeat the success again on Sunday:
"We will look to attack balls at the plate and challenge hitters again tomorrow," Woodhead said.
UP NEXT:
Northeast will compete in their final regular season games starting at 12 p.m. tomorrow in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
