Bio

Adam Potter enters his third year as the head coach of the men’s soccer program at Northeast during the fall of 2024 after winning both the Region 11 Championship and Plains District Championship in each of his first two seasons. Potter was also named Region 11 Coach of the year after both the 2022 and 2023 seasons and he along with his coaching staff were named United Soccer Coaches DII Plains Region Staff of the Year in 2022 and 2023.

In 2023, Potter guided the Hawks to a historic season. Northeast became the first program in school history to top a national poll when his team was ranked No. 1 in the 2023 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Week Four Rankings on September 18, 2023. The Hawks stayed on top of the poll for the rest of the season and became the first team in school history to earn a No. 1 seed at a national tournament.

Potter’s team defeated Iowa Lakes Community College on September 27 by a final score of 2-1 in a showdown of the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in the country, which was the highest ranked home clash in the history of Northeast. The Hawks went on to win the Region 11 Tournament Championship by a final score of 6-3 over Iowa Lakes before winning the Plains District Championship over Neosho County Community College to qualify for the 2023 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship in Tucson, Arizona. At the national tournament, the Hawks defeated No. 12 Patrick & Henry Community College and No. 8 Prairie State College to advance to the final four of a national tournament for the first time in school history.

Edouard Nys, Lewis Rourke, Luca Baltzer and Mathias Kristoffersen were named First Team All-Region under the tutelage of Potter. Luca Rosen, Lucas Van Den Berg, Sergio Aznar and Teun van der Donk were named Second Team All-Region while Aleksander Pedersen, Tom Hennah and Victor Hidalgo were named Honorable Mention All-Region. Nys was named Region 11 Player of the Year while Potter was named Region 11 Coach of the Year for the second-straight season. Rourke was named MVP of the Region 11 Tournament, Nys was named Offensive Player of the Tournament, Aznar was named Defensive Player of the Tournament, Kristoffersen was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Baltzer and Hidalgo also were on the All-Tournament Team.

Edouard Nys and Luca Baltzer were named First Team All-American, Mathias Kristoffersen was named Second Team All-American and Lewis Rourke was named Third Team All-American. Nys and Baltzer also made the 2023 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team. Northeast had the second-most goals in the nation with 122, the second-most assists in the nation with 126 and the most shutouts in the nation with 16. The Hawks set a program record for wins in a season with 22.

Luca Baltzer signed with NCAA DI University of the Pacific, Tom Hennah signed with NCAA DI Missouri State University, Jordy Enamorado signed with NAIA Midland University and Miguel Da Silva signed with NAIA Webber International University.

Potter’s first season at the helm of the Hawks in 2022 shattered almost all of the previous records held by the program. Northeast Men’s Soccer found themselves ranked for the first time in program history in the 2022 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Rankings on September 6, 2022, where they were placed at No. 15. The Hawks climbed to as high as No. 6 during the Week Six Rankings and remained in the polls for the remainder of the season.

Northeast defeated John Wood Community College on September 5 by a final score of 2-0 to improve to 8-0, which set a program record for most wins in a single season. The Hawks downed Southeastern Community College on the road in the Region 11 Tournament Championship by a final score of 2-1 before besting Pratt Community College in penalty kicks to capture the Plains District Championship and to automatically qualify for the 2022 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship in Tucson, Arizona.

At the national tournament, the Hawks downed Massasoit Community College in Pool A by a final score of 3-0 to pick up the program’s first-ever victory on the biggest stage. Sergio Aspas and Tom Hennah were named to the 2022 NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team while the entire squad was honored with the Sportsmanship Award at the 2022 NJCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

Jeevan Purewal was named Region 11 Player of the Year while Purewal, Luca Baltzer and Teun van der Donk were named First Team All-Region. Paul Einero, Ewen Guillermo and Tom Hennah were named Second Team All-Region while Fabian Hasler and Evan Ryan were named Honorable Mention All-Region. Potter was named Region 11 Coach of the Year in his inaugural season in the conference. Baltzer was named MVP of the Region 11 Tournament, Einero was named Offensive Player of the Tournament, Teun van der Donk was named Defensive Player of the Tournament and Reagan Maliska was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Purewal was named First Team All-American, van der Donk was named Second Team All-American and Baltzer was named Third Team All-American.

Northeast had the second-most goals in the nation with 100 and the second-most assists in the nation with 90. The Hawks set a program record for wins in a season with 21. Paul Einero, Tomas Espinoza and Chad Le Roux all signed with NAIA Multnomah University.

Potter previously had a successful stint as the assistant coach at Casper College in Casper, Wyo. He played an integral part in helping start the men's soccer team in 2020 at Casper, leading the Thunderbirds to an 11-2 record in his first season and a 10-6-1 record in 2021.

The Orland Park, Ill., native also served as the assistant coach for three seasons at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where he helped the Red Raiders reach three 10-plus win seasons. He also helped lead Northwestern to their best season in 15 years with a 12-6-2 record and a second-place finish in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Prior to Northwestern, Potter was the head coach for Tempe Prep in Tempe, Ariz., where his team went 33-13 in three seasons. They reached the state tournament for the first time in school history under Potter during the 2015-16 season. Potter was named the 2016-17 '13A' Arizona Coach of the Year.

Potter was a standout student-athlete at Northwestern earning a bachelor's degree and later a Master of Education in teacher leadership.
