NORTHEAST MEN’S SOCCER CLAIMS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IN MISSOURI

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Northeast Community College men's soccer team grabbed their first win of the season in style Sunday as they defeated Metropolitan Community College 7-0 in Independence, Missouri.

Just three days ago the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Central Community College in the first four minutes. Sunday saw a similar story as Luca Baltzer (Oberstenfeld, Germany) scored on a free kick in the fourth minute and Northeast was off and running. In all, the Hawks would score six goals before the horn blew for the halftime break. Baltzer had a mega performance as he tallied two goals and one assist on the day.

Head men's soccer coach Adam Potter on his team grabbing their first win of the season:

"It was fantastic to see the boys come out with such a buzz from the start and take control of the game right away from the start again, scoring four minutes in!" Potter said. "You can see the hunger in these boys!"

Potter on how he wants his team to approach tomorrow's game given the circumstances of finishing a contest that is already halfway through:

"Mindset for tomorrow is job is not done," Potter said. "We have a statement to make!"

The Hawks will finish their game with Central at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Columbus, Nebraska. Northeast leads the Raiders 3-1 with 39:45 left to play.
