Hawks drop conference match to Indian Hills

NORFOLK, Neb. – Down by a goal heading into halftime, the Northeast Community College men's soccer team allowed three goals in the second period to conference foe Indian Hills Community College to cap-off a 4-1 loss on Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

The Hawks (1-3, 0-1 ICCAC) ultimately found the net in the 61^st minute when Victor Galterio punched in a 20-yard shot off an assist from Felipe Guilherme. However, Indian Hills answered with two goals in the 86^th and 88^th minute to put the game out of reach.

"I feel every team we have played up to this point, we have been able to compete with," head coach Chad Miller said. "We are good at moving the ball, strong on defense and have a quick attach, but we don't always put those together. We kept ourselves in the game today and didn't quit. We were able to get within one goal and had some close opportunities, but Indian Hills was very good at countering."

Galterio finished with two shots on goal, while Mario Gonzales added another shot. Goalie Massimiliano Simonazzi finished with four saves in the loss.

"We have to do better at defending set pieces," Miller added. "We gave up two today and something like that can really change a game like it did today."

The Hawks welcome Barton Community College to town for a 4 p.m. match today in Norfolk.
