PLYMOUTH, Ind. – The No. 9 Northeast Community College men's golf team completed their time at the 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana with Round 4 on Friday. The Hawks finished in seventh place as a team while Tyler Baumchen (Topeka, Kan.) finished in a tie for 15th, which earned him NJCAA Second Team All-American honors.
Round 4 was initially delayed due to frost for the seventh delay of the week, but Northeast competed in the best weather conditions of the four days Friday as the sun peaked out from behind the clouds for the first time all week. Baumchen got going early in his round as four-straight birdies on holes three, four, five and six put him in a position to have his lowest round of the week. The sophomore added another birdie on the back nine of the course and was able to finish in the top 16 to clinch Second Team All-American honors after being named First Team All-Region earlier this year by the ICCAC.
As for the team as a whole, the Hawks' finish of seventh was two places higher than their national ranking entering the week and they also topped No. 3 Parkland Community College and No. 7 Meridian Community College. The end of the tournament also signaled the end of one of the most successful campaign in the history of the men's golf program at Northeast as the team finished the season with two individual winners of tournaments, three event victories, three ICCAC First Team All-Region players, an ICCAC Coach of the Year Award and a player named Second Team All-American.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Men's Golf Coach Ty Heimes on the tournament as a whole:
"Seventh out of 22 is pretty solid," Heimes said. "Not a terrible week at all. I felt like we didn't play our best, but we hung in there all week to scratch out a seventh-place finish."
Heimes on Tyler Baumchen being named Second Team All-American:
"Truly love that kid," Heimes said. "He improved so much since the first day he arrived at Northeast. I think he would even tell you that when he first stepped on campus he would have never been in the top 15 at the national tournament. He has worked hard and has put in a ton of work over the last two years. I glad to see that it all paid off for him."
Heimes on what he will remember about his 2024-25 team:
"They laid the foundation for what we want the program to be like," Heimes said. "Being a top-five team in the nation every year is the goal now, and this group laid the bricks for the start of that goal. Now we have to keep moving forward and keep getting better."
THANK YOU, FANS:
Northeast Athletics would like to extend a huge thank you to our sophomores, the families of our student-athletes, our amazing fans and all our supporters for making this year such a memorable one! We can't wait to see you next season!
