COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team headed to Council Bluffs, Iowa Friday to begin a huge series with NJCAA No. 4 Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks dropped the single showdown by a final score of 10-7.
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team headed to Council Bluffs, Iowa Friday to begin a huge series with NJCAA No. 4 Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks dropped the single showdown by a final score of 10-7.
Northeast (34-20, 21-10 ICCAC) fell behind 7-0 after just one frame and spent most of the afternoon clawing back into the matchup. Both Ian Shaw (Ogallala, Neb.) and Kale Jensen (Central City, Neb.) tallied three hits in the contest as the Hawks as a team recorded 14 hits compared to the 10 from the Reivers. Greysen Strauss (Lexington, Neb.) came on in relief for Northeast in the third inning and had one of his strongest performances of the year as the freshmen went four frames, allowed just one hit and struck out four Iowa Western batters. The Hawks will now finish the regular season with another doubleheader back on the same field tomorrow.
