GREVENGOED HAS BIG DAY AT THE PLATE FOR NORTHEAST ON OPENING DAY
ENID, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hit the road to David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma for their first games of the year in a doubleheader with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. The Hawks dropped Game 1 by a final score of 7-3 and fell 14-4 in five innings in Game 2.

ENID, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hit the road to David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma for their first games of the year in a doubleheader with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. The Hawks dropped Game 1 by a final score of 7-3 and fell 14-4 in five innings in Game 2.
Northeast (0-2) was led offensively on the day by Cade Grevengoed (West Des Moines, Iowa) as the sophomore started the 2024 campaign with four hits, a double, a home run and 5 RBIs combined in the two showdowns. The Hawks led both matchups at times during the afternoon, including a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning of Game 2, but walks plagued Northeast as the Jets tacked on 11 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to end the duel early.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on his squads first outing of 2024:
"We gave up an absurd amount of free bases," Clapp said. "Pitchers have to get ahead and pound the strike zone! I thought we did a few things well offensively, but we need to be on time and attack the fastball better."
Clapp on having two more contests with the Jets tomorrow:
"We get another shot at them tomorrow and need to play cleaner baseball and compete better!" Clapp said.

The Hawks will look to even the series tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma.
