NO. 10 HAWKS FALL IN CONFERENCE OPENER TO NO. 9 IOWA WESTERN

OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 10 ranked Northeast Community College baseball team came up short Thursday in their ICCAC conference opener against the NJCAA Division I No. 9 Iowa Western Community College Reivers. The Reivers came out on top by a final score of 11-1 in seven innings during a game that was played on the campus of the University of Nebraska Omaha at Tal Anderson Field at Maverick Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Hawks (20-3, 0-1 ICCAC) jumped ahead early in the contest after Parker Dorrance (Arvada, Colo.) singled on a hard ground ball to center field that scored Taylor Gill (Orem, Utah). However, that was the last run that the Hawks would push across in the contest as they were only able to muster four hits on the day.

The Reivers evened the score at one a piece in the bottom of the first before tacking on five more runs in the second, two runs in the fourth, one run in the sixth and two more runs in the seventh to end the game.

UP NEXT

The Hawks will have their first conference series at home against Southwestern Community College. The series is scheduled to begin for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
