Smith named NJCAA First Team All-American
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) can add another award to his collection, after being named an NJCAA First Team All-American, it was announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sophomore Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) can add another award to his collection, after being named an NJCAA First Team All-American, it was announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday.
Smith was a vital piece of the Northeast Community College baseball team, guiding the Hawks to their first-ever NJCAA Baseball World Series appearance as a second-year program.
In two years at Northeast, Smith finished with a .427 batting average and a .807 slugging percentage. He recorded 148 hits, 123 RBI, 37 doubles, 29 home runs, 24 stolen bases and only struck out 26 times in 347 at-bats.
Smith will continue his academic and athletic career at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz.
