Taylor and Smith named to All-North Plains District Team
NORFOLK, Neb. – After capping off a historic run at the NJCAA DII Baseball World Series, Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) and Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) were named to the All-North Plains District Team, it was announced on Thursday.
NORFOLK, Neb. – After capping off a historic run at the NJCAA DII Baseball World Series, Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) and Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) were named to the All-North Plains District Team, it was announced on Thursday.
Taylor, a freshman left-handed pitcher, posted a 9-3 record in 81 innings pitched. He started in 18 games and tossed one-complete game, while recording a 4.78 ERA. Taylor struck out 87 batters and walked 48.
Smith, has begun to rack-up the awards after a monumental season for the Hawks. In 55 games, the power-hitting second baseman tallied a .465 batting average and an .897 slugging percentage in 185 at-bats. He notched 20 doubles, 18 home runs, three triples, 69 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Smith only struck out 12 times all season.
The Hawks finished their second year with an overall record of 36-20.
