Taylor, Smith and Sinju named First Team, five others earn All-Region status
NORFOLK, Neb.– Two days after winning the Region XI Championship, three players from the Northeast Community College baseball team have been named First Team All-Region, while three have earned Second Team All-Region and two were honored as Honorable Mention All-Region, it was announced by the ICCAC on Wednesday.

Cam Taylor (Bellevue, Neb.) was named a First Team selection with an 8-2 record in 69 and one-third innings pitched. So far this season, he has struck out 76 batters to go along with a 3.76 ERA.
Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.) has dominated at the plate from the start, carrying a .431 batting average and a .813 slugging percentage. He has added 18 doubles, 13 home runs, two triples, 50 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
Jayden Sinju (Murray, Utah) found his name on the First Team All-Region list as a freshman, notching a .324 batting average and a .559 slugging percentage. At the plate, he has recorded 11 doubles, seven home runs and 43 RBI.
Earning Second Team honors as a freshman, Alex Potter (Parker, Colo.) ranks second at the NJCAA DII level for saves with 11. In 37 and one-third innings, he has struck out 51 batters to compliment a 2-1 record and a .48 ERA.
Lefty hurler Andrew Shaw (Dillon, Colo.) boats an 8-3 record in 55 innings pitched. He has sat down 59 batters, while walking only 19 to go along with a 3.60 ERA.
Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) was named a Second Team addition, hitting .341 so far this season. Dumont has 13 doubles, six long balls, 31 RBI and a team-high 16 stolen bases.
Making the Honorable Mention list as a freshman, Derek Botaletto (Omaha, Neb.) has handled the shortstop duties for the Hawks. In 50 games, Botaletto owns a .287 batting average with eight doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI.
Catcher Bryce Walker (Papillion, Neb.) was also named an Honorable Mention selection, crushing six doubles, two home runs, 28 RBI for a .328 batting average and a .426 slugging percentage.
The Hawks (32-18) will travel to Miles City, Montana to take on Miles City Community College May 18-19 in a best-of-three series for the North Plains District Championship with the winner advancing to the NJCAA DII National Tournament in Enid, Okla.
