Northeast baseball hits 20-win mark in walk-off fashion over McCook
NORFOLK, Neb. – A hard-hit ball by Derek Botaletto (Omaha, Neb.) to the right side of the infield gave the Northeast Community College baseball team (20-11, 10-6 ICCAC) a chance, which is all they needed. The McCook Community College second baseman miss-played the groundball, allowing the runner on third to score, giving the Hawks a 10-9 victory on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

The Hawks controlled much of the game, leading 7-4 heading into the eighth inning. The Indians would go on to add five runs in the top of the eighth, forcing Northeast to bring in its dominant closer Alex Potter (Parker, Colo.). Potter limited the damage and went on to throw a scoreless frame in the ninth, before Botaletto stepped to the plate to give the Hawks their 10th-straight win.
Potter picked-up the win, his second of the season after tossing two innings, allowing an earned run off four hits, while striking out four batters and walking one.
Christian Dumont (Bellevue, Neb.) led the Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and a walk. Donovan Warren (Omaha, Neb.) went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Cale Hlavac (Omaha, Neb.) was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
The Hawks return to conference action, taking on Southeastern Community College at 1 p.m. Sunday in Norfolk.
