Northeast baseball falls to Cloud; tops Neosho in comeback fashion
CHANUTE, Kan. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hit the road on Monday, competing in non-conference action in Chanute, Kan.

CHANUTE, Kan. – The Northeast Community College baseball team hit the road on Monday, competing in non-conference action in Chanute, Kan.
The Hawks (2-4) fell to Cloud County Community College 6-2, before scoring seven runs in the final two innings to knock-off Neosho Community College 8-7.
Against Cloud, Northeast fell behind 2-0, before tying the game in the top of the fourth. However, four runs in the bottom of the fifth proved to be too much to overcome for the Hawks.
Cale Hlavac (Omaha, Neb.) went 1-for-3 with a triple, run and an RBI, while Jackson Tingwald (Ralston, Neb.) had a double and an RBI.
Lefty Andrew Shaw (Dillon, Colo.) was saddled with the loss, tossing five innings, allowing five earned runs off seven hits, while striking out three and walking a batter.
The Hawks were able to rally back in the final game of the day, after falling behind 7-1 heading into the sixth inning.
Tanner Hunt (Elkhorn, Neb.) got the bats going for Northeast, smashing a double to center field, scoring Drew Smith (Elkhorn, Neb.). Jayden Sinju (Murray, Utah) roped a double to right field to plate three runs for the Hawks. Northeast wasn't finished as sophomore Donovan Warren (Omaha, Neb.) singled to score Sinju.
Spencer Weber (Bennington, Neb.) led the Hawks going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Sinju, Hunt and Smith had a double, with Sinju adding five RBI. Warren added two hits, a walk and an RBI.
Sebastian Rodriguez (Cayey, Puerto Rico) earned the win in relief, throwing two-thirds innings. Alex Potter (Parker, Colo.) notched the save, pitching one inning, while striking out two.
The Hawks square off with Cloud County at 9 a.m. and Neosho at 12 p.m. tomorrow in Chanute.
